Subscription Busing Registration for 2022-2023

The Millburn Board of Education will begin taking applications for paid subscription transportation for the 2022/2023 school year on May 10, 2022. 

Reminder: Students who do not qualify for mandated transportation, can apply for subscription busing. 

  • To qualify for subscription busing to Millburn High School, the home-to-school mileage must be greater than 1.5 miles.
  • To qualify for subscription busing to Millburn Middle School, the home-to-school mileage must be greater than 1.0 miles. 
  • At this time there is no mileage limit for the elementary schools.

You can determine whether you qualify for mandated busing or subscription busing by emailing the transportation department at [email protected]  or [email protected].

Past participation does not guarantee a seat. You will be scheduled for busing on a first-come/first-serve basis; once seats are not available you will be notified and be put onto the waitlist. 

Please be aware that for safety reasons only items that fit easily onto a student's lap will be permitted onto the bus. All large items that do not fit comfortably on a student’s lap or may impede other students in the same seat must be transported by car. This will be strictly enforced. 

Fees: If you are interested in subscription busing beginning in September, the fee for the 2022/2023 school year will be $1395.00 per student with a family cap of $2790 and is non-refundable. (More information about subscription busing can be found in the 2022 Busing FAQ) 

Online Registration: All applications must be submitted online through CommunityPass. If you are interested in having transportation provided on a fee basis, please use these directions which can also be found on the Subscription Busing webpage, to submit your application by the deadline of Sunday, June 12, 2022. All registrants who sign up after the deadline will be placed on a waitlist created by CommunityPass. 

Payment: Subscription busing is for the entire 2022-2023 school year. If a parent registers a student for busing, payment in full is due at the time of registration.  A split payment option (50% upon registration and 50% in January) is available upon request. There is no option for a partial year subscription.

You may pay by credit card online (with a $5 service fee), or you may pay by check after you have registered through CommunityPass online. If you are paying by check it should be made payable to “Millburn Township Board of Education” and mailed to the Transportation Department at 434 Millburn Avenue, Millburn  NJ  07041. A confirmation email will be sent when the check is received. 

Application requests received after June 12, 2022 will be put on a waitlist and may not be scheduled for busing before September 26, 2022, if seats are still available on the appropriate bus. 

Waivers: If you are applying for a fee waiver, you must fill out the Waiver Form on the Subscription Busing webpage, and provide all required documentation to the Business Office before June 12, 2022. The waiver of the $1395/$2790 student charge is available for families who meet the qualifying income level according to the guidelines set by the State of New Jersey for free and reduced lunch. Waiver applications may be found on the district website linked above. 

Bus Route information and bus passes will be mailed to families in mid-August.
